Fact or Value is a new online forum based in Calcutta, with a focus on politics, literature and intellectual history. Our effort is to trace the genealogies of ideas which inform the inheritance of the human condition.
To provide some respite to the solitary scholar, we also invite writers to articulate and shape their ideas in speech, to essay in words. Anyone engaged in humanities and social sciences research, irrespective of institutional affiliation, can join us, whether to discuss and workshop their forthcoming work or to revisit and hone their earlier writings.
We aim to provide a soundboard for scholarly ideas, allowing them to be fleshed out on the fly. To that end, we also seek to foster an environment of ideological empathy. We actively seek to take up the strange and the reprehensible, using both critical and compassionate lenses for the sake of understanding and creating dialogue.
Additionally, we host fortnightly reading rooms on particular subjects in Calcutta and in virtual spaces.
